The title is deceptive in that it is nowhere near informing anyone of the price of watches for the year of 2017 as stated. It is a book that is very informative as to the history or watches, especially railroad watches and their history and certain watch companies, some that are out of business now but as a source for pricing information. As far as pricing information of today's watches it fails miserably. There are common and popular watches that are NOT EVEN MENTIONED in this large volume. An example is the newer watches of both Rolex and Omega are not there or even mentioned! I think the Bond Seamasters and Planet Oceans and Rolex Submariners should be there! I am keeping it for the historical information and guidance but that is NOT why I purchased the book. The watches I was interested in were not even there. Also, there is no mention of any Asian companies such as Seiko, Citizen or the like. Very disappointed. But is you want to know about railroad watches at the turn of the 1900's then this is your book.

As someone who frequently comes across old interesting watches on my travels to flea markets and antique shops, I was hoping for something more like a NADA car price guide, but for watches. This isn't that. The first half is devoted to pocket watches, with much history, and the rest is mostly a general overview of prices matched with small pictures of watches, but the information isn't very detailed or complete, I guess that the number of various watches is too vast for that. There are also a number of typos. Altogether though, this can be a valuable resource of info for an aspiring watch collector, but don't expect to get all your questions answered here.

Overall informative with some great watch history in it. Beware, half of the book is dedicated to pocket watches. Many brands missing in the wrist watch section (i.e. Hublot and others) Title is a bit misleading, definitely not a complete price guide. To be fair, that would be hard to do given how many watches are out there.Pictures are pretty terrible. Is it worth buying? Yes and no. I'll keep it as I like all the historic information in it.

A truly insane amount of information in this book! Very much worth the money. Have used it a few times, and it looks great on the shelf when I'm not. Very happy with this book.

Good resource for anyone who still possesses pocket watches from the 20th century It has historical information and movement numbers from the big watch makers of the time. It is sad that the mechanism and the art that was the pocket watch has lost its value in modern times.

It is now easier to evaluate watches for sale, and there is a lot of information about how they work and also their history. I think the book is well worth the price. My only complaint would be that the pictures of pocket watch movements are often of poor quality, as if they've been copied repeatedly.

I bought it thinking that there'd be colour photos and specifications of watch brands.Unfortunately, the only pictures in this publication are of a very poor black and white variation.Also, it will only serve as a limited resource to overseas collectors as it majors in obscure American brands.It has bits of useful information and price guides for second-hand/collectors watch pieces, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to somebody just starting out in this hobby.

I've been collecting watches and clocks since the 1980s. This annually published book is the best, most comprehensive book on the subject. It is a reference book with an incredible amount of information on watches. Whether you are new to the hobby or an advanced collector, the book is extremely useful in identifying individual watches. You can quickly determine what manufacturer made the watch, when it was made, relative scarcity and general value based on condition. As a price guide, one must keep in mind that it is a guide and the actual marketplace determines prices.
