Freud wrote to learn. His enthusiasm is evident in his speculations. His contribution to psychology is towering, despite the criticisms that could be leveled at him (the most troubling, his possible involvement in blatant social engineering...that's worse than charges of plagiarism or dumb theories that Freud was secretly bisexual or homosexual). A true detective of thought, Freud's analyses of dreams are brilliant and will help you understand your own. But I recommend a wider reading of Freud and his sound concepts of the Ego, the Superego and the Id. His writing often goes quickly from boring to wildly inspired. Good man or bad man, he should not be dismissed or forgotten. A reader takes only what he or she needs from a book.

A short book and to the point. If you are wanting more in depth reading or understanding of Freud I would research history or some of his other work. This is good if you need a brush up or an intro into dream interpretation. Many people treat Freud as outdated but he was ahead of his time and was ground breaking.

Not that great. It's really drawn out, what he spread over a hundred pages, could've been said in 50, lots of repetition.

Very good book! I recommend reading this whether you are a psych major or not. I'm not saying that I agree with Freud, but good reading.
